Mortal Kombat movie delayed one week - Polygon

kojongpana.blogspot.com

Mortal Kombat, the upcoming Warner Bros. movie adaptation pulled from the video game series, has been delayed by a week, according to a Variety report. Originally scheduled for April 16, Mortal Kombat will now hit theaters and HBO Max on April 23. Warner Bros. confirmed the delay to Polygon.

The movie, directed by Simon McQuoid, got its first full trailer in February, showcasing an original character called Cole Young, a fighter with a suspiciously shaped dragon birthmark. Cole, alongside Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Jax, and Sonya Blade, among others, gets involved in the “Mortal Kombat” tournament to take on baddies Sub-Zero and Shang Tsung. Naturally, there is violence — enough for an R rating, unlike 1995’s Mortal Kombat and 1997’s Mortal Kombat Annihilation.

The movie has been pushed back multiple times due to the pandemic, but the reason for this latest one-week delay was not immediately available.

HBO Max subscribers will be able to watch Mortal Kombat at no extra cost. In-theater screenings will likely be limited to due pandemic-related restrictions.
