The thriller has been set for a May 14 release date.
Focus Features has taken the worldwide rights for Timur Bekmambetov's Profile, setting a May 14 release.
It's the filmmaker's latest movie in the "screenlife" format— a feature that looks as if it plays out entirely on a computer screen. Profile follows an undercover British journalist in her quest to bait and expose a terrorist recruiter through social media while trying not to be sucked in by her recruiter and lured into becoming a militant extremist herself.
Valene Kane (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and Shazad Latif (Star Trek: Discovery) star in the project that was written and directed by Bekmambetov.
The movie premiered in 2018 at the Berlin Film Festival in 2018 and later at SXSW. The Profile acquisition comes after Bekmambetov inked a pact for five screenlife features with Universal, which previously released Bekmambetov's 2014 feature Unfriended.
The deal was negotiated by WME.
