Get your lawn blankets ready for movie night -- Movies in the Park is back.
Movies in the Park, presented by the Rochester Downtown Alliance and Altra Federal Credit Union, will screen its first film of the season in Central Park, 225 First Ave. NW, on June 12. Movies will be shown every other Saturday at the park the park through Aug. 28.
Prior to the movie, people can enjoy themed activities and movie-inspired food starting at 7:30 p.m. with the film to follow at dusk.
“Outdoor and drive-in movies made an inspiring comeback last year and are safe and easy to implement in 2021 while still in a pandemic,” said Kanika Couchene, RDA director of events and strategic partnerships. “What makes this movie experience different are the movie-themed activities for a full immersive experience. People can expect a fun, refreshed event with a few tweaks for safety.”
The events are free to attend, but due to COVID-19 precautions, attendees are required to reserve a space for the movie and circles will be traced on the lawn to ensure proper physical distancing. Masking is encouraged and hand sanitizing stations will be available.
The 2021 Movies in the Park film lineup includes:
June 12: “Black Panther”
June 26: “Casablanca”
July 10: “Dirty Dancing” (People’s Choice vote in public poll)
July 24: “Zootopia”
Aug. 14: “The Wizard of Oz”
Aug. 28: “Shrek” (Kids’ Choice vote in public poll)
