Going to the movies has taken on a new meaning.
The town of Brookfield is moving forward with plans for a drive-in outdoor movie theater at Marcus Majestic Cinema.
The theater, at 770 N. Springdale Road, would show double features of G, PG, or PG-13 films starting at 7:30 p.m.
The town board approved a temporary use permit for the theater May 19. The theater, which would operate five days a week, could open as early as May 29.
The action comes after the Milky Way Drive-In recently opened at Ballpark Commons in Franklin.

According to documents filed with the town, tickets would be made available online and on the Marcus Theatres app.
Marcus plans to ensure social distancing with security that will patrol the lot.
They're asking that people remain in their vehicles, or immediately in front of their vehicles. Guests will be required to wear face coverings whenever they are outside their vehicles.
Refreshments, which will be served at the front door of the cinema, can be ordered online, on the app or by calling the cinema. No alcohol will be served, according to an operating plan filed with the town.
A maximum of 120 cars would be allowed at a time, with each car maintaining a 6-foot buffer, according to a parking plan.
Movies would originally be shown from Wednesday through Sunday, but this could change to seven days a week as well.
Brookfield Town Supervisor Mike Schmitt said he approves this use of the building.
"This temporary use will allow Marcus to transition its business model during these unusual times," Schmitt said in an email.
A spokesperson from Marcus Theatres said they are waiting for official approval before they can discuss plans for the theater.
However, a movie screen has already been attached to the east side wall of the building.
