A Central New York high school has been featured in an international film festival.

Cicero-North Syracuse High School’s Musical Club had two short films shown at the first International Global Water Dance Online Film Festival from June 9-11. Global Water Dances is a worldwide initiative using art for activism, using the universal language of dance to promote the importance of managing our water resources and uniting communities to take action for safe, clean water on World Ocean Day (June 8).

“Water Colors” and “Water Lake” were selected for the festival. “Water Colors,” filmed at Oneida Lake with original music by local artist Shane Patterson, includes 17 students from the C-NS Musical Club and Tri-M Music Honor Society performing movements as a reflection on the beauty of our natural resources. “Water Talk” features two C-NS Musical Club members, Thomas Gilbo and Mikey Mousaw, speaking about the importance of clean water.

For more information about Global Water Dances, visit globalwaterdances.org. C- NS’ videos and others can be seen in the virtual film festival on YouTube.
