Shang-Chi's Cast Give Hilarious Descriptions of the Movie in New Videos - Screen Rant

The cast of Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings play a game of “Don’t Say It,” where they attempt to describe the movie without saying certain words. The 25th film to take place within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and second as part of its Phase 4 has finally introduced audiences to Marvel’s Master of Kung Fu. Following multiple delays due to COVID-19, director Destin Daniel Cretton’s Shang-Chi was released in theaters on September 3rd and has since broken box office records.

In addition to starring Simu Liu as Marvel Studios’ first Asian lead, Shang-Chi features a predominately Asian and Asian-American cast including Awkwafina, Michelle Yeoh, Fala Chen, Meng’ er Zhang, Tony Leung, and Benedict Wong—which, in case you weren’t keeping track, is another first for superhero movies. The film follows its titular character who is forced to confront his past as the son/trained assassin of Wenwu (Leung), the leader of the eponymous Ten Rings, after running away and spending a decade in San Francisco. With the help of his best friend Katy (Awkwafina), estranged sister Xu Xialing (Zhang), and a few surprise guests, Shang-Chi does much more than resolve familial issues.

The official Marvel page on Instagram recently posted a pair of videos featuring Liu, Zhang, and Awkwafina to further promote Shang-Chi. The clips depict two rounds of “Don’t Say It,” a game where the cast has to describe aspects of Shang-Chi without useful words like superhero, ten, and rings. Check it out below:

Thanks to the chemistry and commitment of its cast, Shang-Chi is the most epic, action-packed origin story in the MCU. The film pays homage to martial arts movies of old and has arguably the best fight sequences in any comic book adaptation, with Liu and the rest of the cast doing the majority of their own fight choreography/stunts. On top of that, Shang-Chi subverts many inaccurate cultural expectations, righting wrongs from the panel, page, and on the big screen.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has received rave reviews, praising its action, comedy, culture, and heart. Despite seemingly being a “standalone,” the film sets Shang-Chi up as an Avenger in its credits scenes—including one that sees Shang-Chi, Katy, and Wong engaging in everyone’s favorite Saturday night pastime, karaoke. That scene, the movie, and the game above just make us want to spend more time with all these characters we’ve just met, but feel like we’ve known forever.
