CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois Athletics is set to host its Movie Night presented by Busey Bank at the brand new Demirjian Park on Saturday, August 14. The event will follow the Illinois Soccer exhibition match vs Notre Dame scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Spider-Man: Homecoming was selected by fan vote to be shown on the soccer video board at 5:30 p.m. Admission is free for both the game and the movie.
The first 500 fans in attendance will receive a free Illini popcorn bucket. All attendees will receive free popcorn to enjoy during the movie. Fans are encouraged to bring their own food, non-alcoholic drinks, and blankets onto the field. Free popcorn and other concession items will be available at the Demirjian Park concession stand. Lawn chairs will not be permitted on the field, but fans will be allowed to sit in the stands as an alternative to watching from the field.
"We are excited to host a very accomplished and talented ACC foe, Notre Dame. It is a critical piece of our preparation for the challenging non-conference and Big Ten schedule that awaits us. It will be a phenomenal college soccer pre-season contest," Head Soccer Coach Janet Rayfield said. "With the movie night following the game, it is a perfect opportunity for our fans to get their first look at the 2021 Fighting Illini, experience beautiful Demirjian Park, and have a fun family night watching a movie on the big scoreboard."
"Demirjian Park gives us the ability to build one of the best game atmospheres in college soccer," Rayfield continued, "So, as we get ready on the field to take on the 21 time NCAA Champion Tarheels of North Carolina in the season home opener we hope our fans come out and begin preparing to be the best fans in women's college soccer. COME JOIN THE FIGHT and enjoy the movie!"
Guests can enter through the Southwest or Northwest Demirjian Park entrances. Gates will open at 1:30 p.m.
Free parking will be available in the Atkins Tennis Center lot, the grass lot East of Demirjian Park, and at the Bielfeldt Athletics Administration Building.
