Community movie night

Bakerstown Alliance Church will host a free community movie night at 5 p.m. Nov. 22 in the upper sanctuary.

The event will feature the movie “Just Mercy,” which chronicles world-renowned civil rights defense attorney Bryan Stevenson’s fight to free a wrongly condemned death row prisoner.

The movie is appropriate for ages 12 and older.

An alternative children’s movie will be shown in the downstairs nursery for kids 12 and younger. Snacks will be available. Masks and social distancing are encouraged.

Collection to help Toys for Tots

Three McCandless volunteer fire departments are joining forces for the sixth annual drive to support Toys for Tots.

Residents can help bring joy to needy kids during the holidays by donating unwrapped toys during any of the following times:

• Tuesday evenings in November from 6 to 7 p.m. at any fire station in McCandless.

• Nov. 27 to 29 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Target parking lot at Pine Creek Plaza, 9805 McKnight Road.

Difficult-to-recycle event scheduled in Pine

Pine will host an event to collect difficult-to-recycle items from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 21.

Environmental Coordination Services and Recycling Inc. will be in the municipal parking lot at 230 Pearce Mill Road to collect TV sets, computer monitors, small appliances that contain Freon, fluorescent bulbs, batteries and other electronics.

Registration is required, and a fee is charged for the items dropped off.

Festival of Trees

Hosanna Industries is playing host to its ninth annual Festival of Trees on Nov. 20 and 21.

The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 20, when Santa is scheduled to make an appearance.

The hours on Nov. 21 are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event at Quality Gardens, 209 Route 228 in Valencia, features beautifully designed Christmas trees as well as handmade holiday decorations and Christmas decor available for purchase.

Proceeds benefit the organization’s mission to help needy families.

Drive-through holiday light display

The North Hills School District is hosting a drive-through light display at the high school/middle school campus from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 3.

The decorations and light displays are being designed and created by student clubs, schools and organizations from elementary through high school.

The students also are seeking donations of new and gently used strands of lights, which can be dropped off in collection boxes at the entrance to all school buildings.

The event is free, but donations are being collected to help needy families during the holidays.

Women’s Business Network

Part networking group, part mastermind group, Women’s Business Network provides members with the tools to be successful while expanding their circle of influence and marketplace. All professional women are welcome to attend as a guest at the meeting for no charge.
