Halloweentown Star Reveals Never-Seen Movie Easter Eggs - Screen Rant

Halloweentown star Kimberly J. Brown revealed never-seen easter eggs from the Disney Channel Original Movie. Halloweentown first cast a spell over audiences when it aired on television in 1998. Brown starred as Marnie, a Halloween-obsessed teenager who finds out she comes from a family of witches led by her grandmother Aggie Cromwell (played by the legendary Debbie Reynolds). Things change forever when Marnie and her siblings follow Aggie back to Halloweentown: an alternate universe that spooky creatures created as a haven from humans.

Halloweentown soon earned a spot in the pumpkin patch of holiday classics, spawning several sequels. Halloweentown II: Kalabar's Revenge charmed audiences in 2001, pitting Kalabar's son Kal (Daniel Kountz) as the villain. The subsequent follow-up film brought witches, ghouls, and goblins into the real world, with Halloweentown High, where Marnie attempted to unite them with humans. Film number four, Return to Halloweentown, brought some controversy as much to fans dismay, Brown was replaced by Sara Paxton. All four films are a feast for Halloween lovers, with the whimsical town itself serving as a character.

Kimberly J. Brown reminisced about making the Halloweentown franchise on The Art of Kindness with Robert Peterpaul podcast. During the chat, she revealed an easter egg about the franchise that she didn't think fans had picked up on yet:

"In Halloweentown High there's a few things on Marnie's wall in her bedroom, like the drawing of her specifically from the Halloweentown book in the first movie... I don't know if you ever fully see it, but they made a poster of the drawing of Marnie in the Halloweentown book and hung it on Marnie's wall. So there were slight little things like that."

Brown alluded that Marnie's room was a Halloweentown eye spy of sorts, with other hidden gems for fans to find. She said that they didn't spend too much time in there while shooting, so audiences might not have picked up on the Halloweentown book homage just yet. Fans will recall that Aggie read the picture book to her grandchildren on Halloween night. Inside there is a drawing of a witch flying over Halloweentown that bears an eery resemblance to Marnie. The poster Brown refers to can be viewed above.

It's a wonder why Disney hasn't turned the Halloweentown book into a cash cow yet. Audiences would love their won copy of the magical children's tome. Brown, who cherishes her replica copy of the book, knows this as well as anyone. For this reason, the performer created her own keychain version of the cover for fans to buy from her Esty shop, Craftily Creative. Every Halloween season, it seems the film's fandom grows larger, so the desire for merchandise and behind-the-scenes tidbits is undying. Though four movies were already made, it's clear that people want more magic.
