What movie you should watch next based on your zodiac sign - RU Daily Targum

kojongpana.blogspot.com

Calling all cinephiles and amateur astrologers! If you’re looking for your next classic rewatch, or in the mood for something new, turn your eyes to the stars — and then back to me, your unofficial (and untrained) film and zodiac guru (I know how to read my full chart and have a Letterboxd Pro account, so that has to count for something, right?).

And yes, “Zodiac” is on this list.

Aries — “Bend it Like Beckham” (2002) directed by Gurinder Chadha

You’re a rule-breaker, Aries, and this entire movie is about bending them to follow your passions. And if anyone has passions, it’s you! You always manage to balance your levity and love of fun and adventure (which makes a 2000s rom-com throwback) with your passion and … independence to a fault, which makes a sports movie about finding your own way the perfect fit for you.

Taurus — “Big Fish” (2003) directed by Tim Burton

Steadfast, hardworking Taurus — you’re a sign that values family, and so a film about the bond between father and son is the best pick for your next movie night. But, bulls, you can have a nasty stubborn streak. Your lesson to be learned from this movie? To believe in magic, accept tall tales and hold the ones you love close … even if they’re wrong sometimes. Also, maybe cry — bet you haven’t done that in a while.

Gemini — “Little Monsters” (2019) directed by Abe Forsythe

A movie about the end of the world is perfect for a fast-paced, clever person like you, Gemini. But you don’t take things too seriously — so this movie is mostly a heartwarming and hilarious comedy. You’re curious and easily distracted, so the fact that “Little Monsters” will keep you on your toes and invested in what happens next instead of boring you means you might actually watch a movie and not be on your phone the whole time. For once.

Cancer — “Little Women” (2019) directed by Greta Gerwig

The moody Cancer needs a movie that can perfectly balance warming their heart and making them cry buckets of tears, and “Little Women” is perfect for that. Find your inner maternal energy with Marmee, or your loyal and protective side in Jo — either way, Cancer, you’re family-oriented and have a big heart, so this adaptation of a classic serves both a warm spirit and a love of all things nostalgic. Grab the tissue box and a cup of warm hot chocolate or tea, and get ready for a night in (even though you could probably do with less of those).

Leo — “Blockers” (2018) directed by Kay Cannon

Leo’s lazy side can definitely turn off their brain in order to watch a raunchy comedy, but your creativity and charisma will admire how this movie manages to turn the typically bro-oriented sex comedy on its head to make something much bigger and better than anyone thought it could be — because if there’s one thing you like, Leo, it’s bigger and better.

Virgo — “Zodiac” (2007) directed by David Fincher

Virgo, methodical Virgo. What better movie for everyone’s favorite analyst than a 2 and a half hour crime drama based on a true story? “Zodiac” is full of puzzles worth solving, and the almost documentary-like narrative and perfect tension build up will keep even the most critical mind happy.

Even though there’s allegedly finally an answer to the Zodiac Killer mystery, a watch of a film with no distinct ending will be good for Virgos who want to stick everything in a box — when not everything can be!

Libra — “Legally Blonde” (2001) directed by Robert Luketic

What’s more fitting for a Libra than a movie that combines the value of being a social butterfly and the art of justice? Law student Elle Woods’ optimism and perfect fashion sense (which Libras love) and commitment to being herself even in the face of judgment (something Libras need to learn) make this a movie my fellow late September to October babies should rewatch. Because let’s be honest, we’ve all already seen it.

Scorpio — “Ingrid Goes West” (2017) directed by Matt Spicer

The thrill ride that is “Ingrid Goes West” is perfect for the dramatic, emotional, and yes, sometimes a little possessive Scorpio. Maybe you need a glimpse into the dark side of your dedication (or, to negative people, obsession) or maybe you just need the kid of dark comedy that can satiate the dark side that all Scorpios have. Regardless of your reason for watching and enjoying, this is the perfect movie for you to kick off Scorpio season with!

Sagittarius — “Little Miss Sunshine” (2006) directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris

Ever the adventurer, it’s no surprise Sagittariuses are getting a road trip movie. The impulsive, humorous side of you will love all the insane decisions made in this movie, but the part of you that’s afraid to commit and overconfident in your own abilities will learn from the family at its center, and how they learn to lean on one another — something you could certainly benefit from learning how to do, Sag. To not end on too sour of a note: A comedy is a natural choice for someone as fun-loving as you!

Capricorn — “The Social Network” (2010) directed by David Fincher

The second Fincher film on this list for another earth sign, “The Social Network” appeals to Capricorn’s dedication to fact and justice, while pointing out the dangers if they continue down their path of “I’m right, you’re wrong” uninhibited ambition (not that I think any future Zuckerbergs are reading an article with a basis in astrology, but still).

Capricorn’s penchant for sarcasm and wit help make this the perfect rec. Just try not to pull up a Wikipedia page and make corrections just because it claims to be based on true events.

Aquarius — “Spirited Away” (2001) directed by Hayao Miyazaki

For the quirky Aquarian, there’s nothing better than a fantasy. Clever and optimistic, Aquarius will find the perfect adventure in Chihiro’s adventures. The perfect balance of your free-spirited nature and unconventional charm can be found in Miyazaki’s crafty world-building, but the importance of love and family in this film will warm even the most emotionally detached Aquarian’s heart.

Pisces — “Song of the Sea” (2014) directed by Tomm Moore

Sweet, soft-hearted Pisceans deserve the bundle of warm hugs that is “Song of the Sea.” Though those born under Pisces are extremely sensitive and should be careful at how much this tugs at the heartstrings, the dreamy environment and pure loving core of this Irish cartoon is a great pick for your marshmallow-soft interior.

Of course, sometimes you can act as bratty or as whiny as the film’s 10-year-old protagonist … but you’ve still got the big spirit this movie does!
