MORTON (Heart of Illinois ABC) - The Pumpkin Capital of the World is cooking up a love story made for the big screen, and tickets are going quickly for the film's premiere.
East Coast-based Gemelli Films spent two months filming "Baking Up Love" in Morton earlier this year.
The faith-based romantic comedy is about an international pumpkin pie baking contest.
The movie was made by possible by a $75,000 village tourism grant, and many local businesses and people in Morton are featured.
The film company's president, Candice Cain, said filming the picture in Central Illinois was great, and she hopes the finished product resonates with Morton residents.
"I want them to see they don't have to go to all these different areas or relocate in order to be a part of the entertainment industry. They can have it there. They can create it there," said Cain.
She says more than 500 tickets have been sold for the premiere on Saturday at Morton Cinemas.
Moviegoers will be able to meet some of the cast and walk the "orange" carpet. It's orange because Morton is famous for its pumpkins.
