“Showstoppers! Spectacular Costumes from Stage & Screen”, a new exhibit featuring costumes from Broadway, TV shows, and movies opened on August 5th on Times Square. It is an eight-week limited engagement, which will go through September 26th, that will raise money for the Costume Industry Coalition Recovery Fund. It continues to support one of the hardest hit sectors of the entertainment industry.
Occupying over 20,000 square feet, with over 100 costumes, the exhibit also showcases the costume makers’ techniques and skills, with on-site demonstrations and interactions with guests.
Some of the Broadway shows featured include “The Cher Show”, “The Phantom of the Opera”, “Wicked”, “Frozen”, “Aladdin”, “The Lion King”, and “Hamilton”. From TV, we can see costumes from “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and “Dickinson”. As for movies, some costumes from the upcoming “No Time To Die”, the new James Bond movie, are also displayed.
