MMO Roundtable: Favorite Holiday Movie - metsmerizedonline.com

kojongpana.blogspot.com

‘Tis the season to be jolly… and the season without baseball. What does one do then? Get into the holiday spirit of course! (And follow all of the moves happening during the offseason, duh). In the spirit of things, we’re sharing our favorite holiday movies. Is your favorite holiday movie below? If not, be sure to watch some, if not all, of them (in between reading about the latest Mets acquisitions, of course!).

Sam Brown

My favorite Christmas movie is probably It’s A Wonderful Life, not as much because of the plot line, but because of the memories I have while watching that movie. Watching that is a family tradition in my house, so we watch it every year. I’m 21 now so that means I’ve seen it 21 times, and I can quote that movie word for word at this point, which my family does each year, with like key phrases and sayings in the movie we say it with the actors.

But, the reason it’s my favorite is because it’s the only thing I’ve seen my dad cry at. He always cries at the end of that movie and it shows this vulnerable side of him that I rarely ever see. It is a really nice moment and it’s a movie we all love to watch, along with Lapoon’s Christmas Vacation, which is another favorite of mine because of how funny it is.

Rob Piersall

The only Christmas movie that matters. A Christmas Story. Every year I watch the marathon on Christmas Day and it never gets old. You’ll shoot your eye out, kid.

Mojo Hill

My favorite Christmas movie has gotta be Elf, an absolute classic with Will Ferrell at his finest. It’s funny, heartfelt, emotional, and clever. Though I’ve gotta give an honorable mention to Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, a classic from my childhood that will always bring me nostalgia.

Rich Sparago

My favorite Christmas movie is Elf. I took my daughter to see it when she was really little, and we watch it together every year (and now that she’s an adult-with wine). I use the lines from the movie in everyday speech. “You sit on a throne of lies!”, “Angry elf”, “Santa, I know Santa!”. The scene in the Board meeting toward the end is classic, as is the snowball fight. Thanks for bringing this up, time to watch it for the 2020 season.

Marissa Credle

I don’t watch many Christmas movies so it is hard to pick a favorite, but I will say I love Elf and have watched it a few times now. I agree with Mojo, and really like how it combines comedy with the heartfelt emotions you get from almost all Christmas movies

Laney Ortiz

The best holiday movie ever made is National Lampoon Christmas Vacation. No other words need to be spoken.

Mike Mayer

For years, my favorite holiday movie has been Elf, it’s simply become tradition to watch it as much as possible during the season. That being said, with my son now four-years old and very vocal about what he wants to watch, the classic Rudolph is quickly working it’s way into our families rotation. And of course, Die Hard, classic Christmas movie.

Michelle Ioannou

As Bumble is my favorite holiday character (aside from Santa, of course) I have to go with the classic Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer. All of those movies from that era though — Frosty the Snowman, Santa Clause is Comin’ to Town, The Year Without a Santa Clause, etc truly make it feel like Christmas to me.

This question is a hard one though, as White Christmas and Holiday Inn are very close seconds — I mean Bing Crosby and Christmas are essentially synonyms. In terms of more recent ones, National Lampoon is a definite. Oh, and Die Hard is a Christmas movie.
