Movie Popcorn to Pop Up on the SouthCoast - wbsm.com

Do you know anyone who will go to the AMC Theaters in the Dartmouth Mall, buy popcorn, and bring it home without seeing a movie? There's good news for folks like that, and for anyone else who wants to take out real cinema popcorn.

Beginning next year, the world's No. 1 movie chain will begin selling its branded popcorn in shopping malls, in over two dozen supermarket chains, Walmart and other retailers across the country. AMC is betting big on its new brand, "AMC Theaters Perfectly Popcorn."

It stands to reason, AMC knows a thing or two about popcorn, a multi-billion dollar industry that Wall Street investors expect will reach $6.24 billion by 2028, according to a report conducted by Million Insights. "Needless to say, AMC knows popcorn ever so well," AMC CEO Adam Aron said in a statement. "On our busiest days, AMC Theaters currently pops in the range of 50 tons of popcorn per day. But the popularity of popcorn extends well beyond the doors of our movie theaters."

Good luck finding a human to answer the phone at the local AMC for a comment, because there's no business line that's posted publicly. Be that as it may, some things naturally go side by side, like popcorn and butter, and in this case, movie theaters and popcorn definitely go hand in hand. It's a business move that makes sense.

Speaking of popcorn and butter, does your popcorn get soggy when you add butter? Then you're probably not drizzling clarified butter on it. I don't want to get off point here, but only clarified butter keeps popcorn plump, delicious and crunchy. It's simple to do; just melt your butter, skim the foam off the top, let the released water sink to the bottom, and the stuff in the middle is liquid gold.

Will it stack up to movie theater popcorn? By the way, one reason the popcorn in theaters tastes so good is because they use "Pop Weaver Gold" kernels, pop it using coconut oil, then sprinkle "Flavacol," a seasoned fine powder that's tossed over the popcorn while it pops, that gives it a salty, flavorful taste and a yellow shade. And if that's not enough, you can rain lightly the tasty butter-like topping. That's why movie theater popcorn tastes so good.
